The 90th anniversary of HRH Grand-Duke Jean

 

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of  HRH Grand-Duke Jean , Luxembourg Post has issued the stamp set  on March 15, 2011. The issue comprises of two stamps depicted His photo and His youngest son, Prince Guillaume.

Grand Duke Jean has served His country as Chief of State for 36 years and can, on the occasion of His 90th birthday, reflect on a full career, rich in emotions and memories. Born on 5 January 1921 at Berg Castle and given the name Guillaume Robert Antoine Louis Marie Adolphe Marc d’Aviano of Luxembourg, He is the eldest son of the Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg and Prince Felix of Bourbon Parma. After finishing His primary and secondary studies in Luxembourg, He completed His studies at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire County in England.

The 125th birth anniversary of Heino Eller

On March 07, 2012,  Estonia post issued the personality stamp set, and presented Heino Eller, an Estonian composer. The issue is only one stamp depicted his face with background of music note for celebrating the 125th of his birth anniversary.

Heino Eller (7 March 1887 – 16 June 1970), an Estonian composer and music teacher, graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatory, specializing in composition and music theory. 


In 1920 he returned to Estonia and set down to work at the Tartu Higher Music School as a teacher of theory and composition, laying the basis to a new generation of Estonian musicians whose bright names, such as Eduard Tubin, Alfred Karindi, Richard Ritsing, Karl Leichter, Olav Roots and Eduard Oja have become known as Eller's Tartu school.

The 200th Anniversary of Franz Liszt - Luxembourg

In the year 2011, the music world commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth and the 125th anniversary of the death of composer and virtuoso Franz Liszt.

The Luxembourg Post also issued the stamp set even only one stamp on September 27, 2011. The issued stamp depicted the paint of Franz Liszt.

At the end of his life, Liszt maintained a close relationship with his friend, Hungarian painter Mihàly de Munkàcsy and his Luxembourgish wife Cécile Papier. The deep friendship with the painter started in 1882, when the two men first met in Budapest.


At the end of April 1886, Liszt lived as a guest in the Parisian residence of the Munkàcsys. On the following 5 July, Liszt, now very ill, decided to take a rest break at the summer residence of the Munkàcsys in Colpach.
